New York State Education Department's Standardized Exam Practice

The New York State Education Department offers testing information and practice resources. Also available are free statewide practice tests that you can download, print out and administer to your 4th grader in preparation for the citywide test. There are practice test booklets available from five different school years. Online Quizzes from Quiz-Tree.com

As your 4th grader prepares for the citywide exam, you might want to check out the free online quizzes made available by Quiz-Tree.com. The quizzes here cover math and English as well as other subjects that may help your child throughout the school year. Although many quizzes are available without registration, it's free to sign up and allows you full access to the site.

The first thing you'll do is select your topic. If you select math, for example, you'll be taken to a page where you'll choose from a number of subcategories, including elementary math, fractions, decimals, units of measurement and geometry. Although not all the quizzes are categorized by grade level, you will likely be able to find material appropriate for your 4th grader by comparing what he or she is currently studying in school with the content of the quizzes.
