4th Grade IQ Test: Where to Find an IQ Test for My Fourth Grader
IQ (intelligence quotient) tests are a common tool used to determine a child's level. Many IQ tests will cost money, but there are also a number of free tests that your 4th grader can take. Continue reading to learn about these tests.
IQ tests use memory, reasoning and problem solving to assess a child's mental capacity. They are one measure of a person's intelligence and should be used with other assessments when making decisions about your 4th grader's education. In addition to IQ testing, you should consider behavior observations, student work and standardized tests when determining your child's level.
IQ Tests from Fun Education
Fun Education has a free, online IQ test. However, most of the tests on this site require payment to view the scores, one of which is an exam intended for kids under 17. Although this exam is aimed at kids, it does not have specialized questions for 4th graders. It may still be useful to determine your child's approximate score because the tests at Fun Education are based on the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC). The WISC was designed for children and can often be used to figure out if your child is gifted or has a disability.
The Kids IQ Test Center's 4th Grade Tests
Alfred Binet developed the first IQ test and decided that intelligence can be placed on a mental scale. Today, Stanford-Binet model IQ tests are scored by comparing a child's results with the results of every other child of the same age. The average score for a generation of test subjects is 100.
The Kids IQ Test Center uses the Stanford-Binet test as a basis for the IQ tests your child can take. You can pick your child's age group for the appropriate test. Although you'll have to pay for the test itself, all the information about the test is available for free.
Help from IQ Test for Kids
This site provides clear, concise, easy-to-use IQ test options. You can choose tests for kids ages 4-8 and 9-16. Because 4th graders are in the middle of these two age groups, you'll have to judge where your own child belongs. It may be best to go with the higher age group in order to get your 4th grader used to testing at this level. To view your child's score, you must pay; however, your child can gain free practice by taking the test without the ending score.
