Online Assessments from Georgia's Department of Education

Using the Online Assessment System (OAS) from Georgia's Department of Education, your child can take online practice tests. To access the test, use the username and password 'Grade6.' For 6th grade, the online tests include language, math, reading and science. Your child's answers are instantly graded, so you will know what subjects require extra review right away.

To prepare further, the Department of Education has study guides for each grade level. The 6th grade study guide covers reading, language arts, math, science and social studies. In addition, it provides test-taking tips, such as what to do the day before the test. You may also want use the practice activities at home. For instance, to get your child used to reading nonfiction materials, have her follow a recipe to make a meal.

Rabun County Elementary School's Practice Tests

Here, you can download PDF files of practice CRCT tests for grades 1-8. For 6th grade, there are two quizzes and two tests for each subject. All of the tests have multiple-choice questions. However, answer keys are not provided. The language arts tests assess students on organization, grammar, vocabulary and research skills. The reading section includes reading passages and comprehension questions. The science, social studies and math sections require students to interpret charts, graphs and maps.

Additional Review from Woodland Middle School

If your child could use additional review, Woodland Middle School offers free reading, language arts, math, social studies and science tests. Answer keys are provided for each test, so you can grade your child's work and look for patterns in his incorrect answers. Additionally, most of the tests are short, so your child can review without getting bored and frustrated with the length.
