EDinformatics' State Tests

EDinformatics has standardized practice tests and sample questions from almost every state. Since most states have similar core curriculum standards, your child can take practice tests from other states as well as your own.

Some states, such as Alaska, release sample questions only, while other states, such as Texas and New York, release the full exam. Texas also has a version of its test that can be taken online. Most states also have directions for administering the test, as well as answer keys available for download.

Pearson Longman's Practice Tests

Pearson Longman has practice reading tests for grades K- 8. The tests were originally developed to assist limited English proficiency students, but they are useful practice tools for all children.

The tests require a variety of responses, including multiple-choice as well as short and long answers. The questions are designed help children process, analyze and organize information. Each test has two reading sections and an answer page, which you can print and review.

Quizzes and Games from Sylvan's Book Adventure

At Book Adventure, kids can select their own book from a database of over 8,000 titles. In the Kid Zone, children can search for books by subject, grade level, title or author. After reading a book, your child can access the Quiz-O-Matic section to test his or her reading comprehension and earn points towards a prize. There's a wide range of real prizes available in the Prize Library, including e-books, temporary tattoos and even candy.

The Kid Zone also provides links to online games and printable activities. In addition, you can visit the Parent's Place to track your child's reading progress, help select books and access sample quizzes. Although you must register to view many of the materials, membership is completely free.
