7th Grade Study Guide: Best Study Guides for Students
Study guides can help students focus their studying on important information and can help them check their understanding. If your child has a test coming up, his or her teacher may provide a study guide; however, in advanced grades, teachers will expect students to create their own. Browse through the following sites for online study guide resources.
Standardized Test Study Guide from Georgia's Department of Education
The Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests (CRCT) are standardized tests given to Georgia students to assess how well they're meeting the state standards. To help students prepare for this test, the Georgia Department of Education has provided a free 7th grade study guide that covers reading, English, math, science and social studies.
Even if you don't live in Georgia, this guide may be a helpful resource. Pick out sections that apply to your child's upcoming test and use it as additional review. In this study guide, you can find advice on how to take exams. Practice quizzes and solutions are available for every subject. If your child needs practice comprehending what she reads, use the at-home activities listed in the study guide, such as creating a character trait worksheet or using envelopes to categorize story elements.
Individualized Flash Cards from Quizlet
Here, you can make your own flash cards or use the search feature to find pre-made flash cards for your 7th grader. When making your own, enter a title for the flash card set, along with a definition and the subject it's for. Then, you may add images or simply write the information that should be on the front and back of the cards. Although you have to make a Quizlet account to view your cards, it's free to sign up. Afterwards, your child can use the flash cards as an online study guide.
For additional review, consider having your 7th grader make the flash cards himself. He knows what aspects of the unit he struggles with the most, so creating the cards can act as a study session.
Use the search feature to find flashcards created by other users. Then, refine your search by selecting subtopics, such as English, social studies or language arts. Although the content may not be identical to your child's, you may be able to find flash cards with similar material.
