GED Alaska: Summary of Alaska GED Requirements

Alaska GED Structure

You will be tested on the following subjects:

  • Language Arts, Writing (including an essay question)
  • Language Arts, Reading
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Social Studies

Exam Scoring

In order to successfully complete the exam, a minimum score of 410 on each section is required. In addition, an average score of 450 must be earned on all five subjects.

You have the opportunity to retake the entire exam (or individual sections) as many times as necessary.

Eligibility

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Have not received a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be a resident of Alaska

Registration and Cost

Register at your local testing center. Visit the Alaska Jobs Center website, www.ajcn.state.ak.us, for more information. The fee to register is $25 although some centers may offer reduced cost exams. Call around to find the lowest price in your area.

Preparing for the Exam

It is always a good idea to be prepared for the exam. Visit your local library or nearest bookstore to find materials that reviews subject matter. Adult learning centers or community colleges may also offer courses on GED preparedness.
