Testing Centers Near You

Individuals who reside in larger metropolitan areas will most likely have a choice of more than two testing centers. Having access to two or more facilities will give the test taker more options and offer greater convenience. It will be up to the test administrator to determine which location will best fit the test taker's needs based on criteria such as proximity to home, how busy each center is, and other factors that can affect test taking success. Make sure to also contact your local Department of Education for more information.

Finding a Testing Center Online

Your best bet to finding a testing center near you is by contacting your state's Department of Education. You can do this by visiting their website. Most DOEs will give you all the information you'll need to find out your closest testing center, registration and times, test fees, and other important testing information. As an example, Louisiana's DOE website www.doe.state.la.us lists the 45 testing centers located in the state, and provides other information such as how many people took the test during the fiscal year 2004-2005 and how many of those people actually passed.

Candidates can also visit the American Council on Education website www.acenet.edu to find out how to contact your jurisdiction's GED testing program. The website provides the links that will put you in touch with the people responsible for operating the GED testing programs all across the US, the Pacific, and Caribbean.

Take the Test

After you find your testing center, the first thing you should do is register for the test, pay the fees and find out what you'll need to bring during test day. In order to succeed, it is always a good idea to get as much GED test preparation as possible.

To learn more about finding an official GED testing center near you, remember to look up your state's Department of Education website. It would also be a good idea to check out the American Council on Education's pages on the GED.
