You can find dozens of free elementary reading comprehension worksheets at RHL School's website. The worksheets offered here will help your child practice different types comprehension of skills, including using synonyms and antonyms, figuring out vocabulary from context, and comprehending the themes of passages. Most of the worksheets here include texts that your child must read, such as poems, articles, stories and essays. The worksheets are presented in 12 different volumes and each can either be viewed in your browser or printed. The passages for the beginning worksheets are under 500 words long, the intermediate passages are around 500 words and the advanced passages are 500-1,000 words. You and your child can browse these worksheets by skill level and content, such as informational passages, critical analysis, role-playing and more. There are also worksheets covering other topics that can help your child improve his or her comprehension, like parts of speech, analogies, run-on-sentences, irregular verbs, sentence completion and common verbs.
