Elementary Education: Worksheets and Instructional Materials

Worksheets are a helpful way to reinforce a concept at home because they provide repetitive practice. If your elementary school child could use extra help, browse the following websites to find a resource that meets his or her needs.

Find available tutors

Free Worksheets from TLSbooks.com

Here, you can search by grade level or subject for free, printable worksheets for kids in preschool through sixth grade. All the worksheets must be printed and most include answer sheets. Because of the wide range of topics that are covered for each subject, you'll likely be able to find a worksheet that complements what your child is learning in school.

For instance, in the third grade science section, there are worksheets on animal families and the planets. In the social studies section, there's a worksheet that helps students read maps. In addition to worksheets, you can find a variety of other instructional materials, including word puzzles, flash cards and online quizzes.

Education.com's Review Activities and Games

In addition to worksheets for all grade levels and subject areas, you can also find printable board games here. Refine your search by grade level and topic, which includes the core subjects as well as paper projects and holiday-themed activities. All the worksheets are PDF files, so they must be printed out. For many of the worksheets, you can view an answer key.

If you're looking for a fun, interactive way to teach your child at home, select the games topic from the menu and 'printable board games' from the subtopic category. These games can help students in the same way worksheets do - by providing repeated practice - but with a fun spin.

Family Education's Printables Center

Family Education provides printable worksheets for ages 0-18. Choose from seven categories, which include charts and forms, games and puzzles, holidays and skill builders. In addition to the core subject areas, you'll find interesting and unusual topics, such as health, safety and Spanish.

To view the worksheets, you must enter an e-mail address; however, no personal information is required. Registration is free and you have the option of subscribing to a complimentary educational newsletter.
