Elementary Spelling List and Worksheets

Spelling is essential for elementary students as they begin to advance their reading and writing skills. Your child likely takes weekly spelling quizzes, but studying with flashcards may not be very engaging. To help your son or daughter get the most out of his or her spelling practice, try introducing new words and worksheets like the ones discussed below.

Where Can I Find Spelling Worksheets for My Child?

Spelling worksheets are a great way for elementary students to practice and prepare for weekly spelling tests. When completing worksheets, they write the words repeatedly, which helps them remember proper spellings. Create your own worksheets using your child's weekly spelling list. Write sentences using the words, but leave a blank, so your child has to spell the word from memory and place it in the correct sentence.

You can also find generalized elementary spelling list worksheets online or use an online tool to create customized worksheets based on your child's classroom spelling words. Often, worksheets and list generators are free to use, but some do require membership fees. Get started with the following word list.
