Fifth Grade Grammar Worksheets and Practice
By fifth grade, your child's teacher will expect him or her to know basic grammar and punctuation. You can help your child practice grammar skills at home with interactive games and activities found online.
My Schoolhouse Grammar Worksheets
My Schoolhouse has a variety of free grammar lessons and worksheets. You can select from topics including parts of speech, clauses and punctuation. Each lesson contains a brief grammar explanation followed by fill-in-the-blank questions.
All worksheets can be completed online. The program corrects the answers and allows children a second opportunity to answer the questions they missed. The program also keeps track of the time it took to complete the worksheets and how many tries it took to answer all of the questions accurately.
Free Grammar Worksheets from Tlsbooks.com
Tlsbooks.com has printable grammar worksheets, puzzles and coloring pages for elementary students. Answer keys are provided. You can select worksheets by grade level or use the master list, which includes worksheets on parts of speech, homophones, antonyms, capitalization and punctuation. In the Earthquakes and Volcanoes game, children practice identifying sentence fragments. In Question the Brothers Grimm, children rewrite sentences using correct punctuation.
Interactive Grammar Games from Fun English Games
Fun English Games has a variety of free grammar quizzes, games and videos for English as a second language (ESL) learners, as well as children who just want to review what they've learned in school. Games and other activities include practice with sentence structure, punctuation, prefixes, suffixes and parts of speech.
One punctuation game gives kids practice using question marks, exclamation points, commas and apostrophes. Kids can also learn about nouns, verbs and adjectives by playing the Word Types game, where they select correct answers using an interactive highlighter.
