Free Online End-of-Grade Test for 8th Grade Students

The End of Grade (EOG) tests are administered to students in North Carolina at the end of the 3rd-8th grades. The 8th grade EOG tests measure student performance in reading comprehension, math and science. You can find free practice tests for each subject on the Public Schools of North Carolina website.

Find available tutors

The Public Schools of North Carolina EOG online test preparation resources are divided by subject matter, then by grade level. The site offers several printable PDF sheets outlining the objectives of each test, the standard course of study for each grade level and sample test questions with answers.

For additional practice, the U.S. Department of Education's Institute for Education Sciences offers national standards practice tests for all grade levels. You can visit their website to get even more practice for the 8th grade EOG tests by testing your knowledge in a variety of subjects, including reading, math and science.

EOG Reading Comprehension

EOG reading comprehension practice tests are divided into the same five sections for every grade level: fiction, nonfiction, poetry, content and consumer. Each test section is a downloadable PDF that you can read on your computer or print out. These practice tests generally consist of a passage for you to read followed by several multiple choice questions that measure your reading comprehension. You can find answers to all questions at the end of each section.

EOG Math Test

The 8th grade EOG math sample tests are divided into five different goals: number and operations, data analysis and probability, measurement, geometry and algebra. You can download a separate PDF practice test for each math subject. You're allowed to use your calculator to complete all of the math problems in this practice test. You can find the answers to the sample test questions, as well as the math skills each question evaluates, at the end of each test.

EOG Science Test

The 8th grade EOG science practice test consists of several multiple choice questions that measure your knowledge in a variety of scientific areas, including biology, chemistry and physics. Answers to all questions can be found at the end of the practice tests.
