Worksheets, Lessons and Calculators from

Here, you can find online algebra calculators, written lessons and online worksheets, which correct your child's answers automatically at the click of a button. Each math unit is categorized under 'lesson' or 'worksheet' so your child can choose to either read through the text-based explanations first or jump to testing his knowledge with the online worksheets. Within the 'worksheets' heading, there are ten subheadings, including 'factoring,' 'simplifying,' 'exponents' and 'multiplication.' The subheadings each have more specific titles, so you can get a clear sense of what the worksheets will cover. The sheets have 20 questions, and a sample question at the top of each section.

One thing to look out for is the free algebra calculator feature. It's possible that your child could use this to solve her homework problems, which you will probably want to discourage; however, a positive aspect of the calculator is that it shows how equations are solved. If your child gets homework sheets or tests returned with some wrong answers, this feature allows her to type in the equations and see how the problems should be solved.

Free Algebra Lessons from

These free math lessons cover everything from preliminary topics to advanced algebra. All topics are discussed in a written format with examples given in numeric and algebraic equations. While the lessons often look like those found in text books, the language is more conversational, which may make some particularly difficult concepts easier to digest.

This is not the place to find practice problems, but it could be a great place for your child to read through explanations of algebra units to prepare for a test. You could quiz your child by asking him to describe the meaning of certain topics, and then read the lessons on the website aloud to compare. This would help to make sure that your child clearly understands the concepts behind each unit. The beginning algebra section includes lessons on the distance formula, exponents, graphing and fractional notation. Some of the advanced topics are logarithms, rational expressions and the binomial theorem.
