Discovery Education has free learning resources for kids on a variety of topics, including science, math, English/language arts and social studies. There are games, activities, videos and animations that will be especially helpful if your child is a strong visual learner. Additionally, you can find interactive lessons on topics ranging from solar-powered cars to writing skills.

For math help, your child can utilize the Webmath resource available from Discovery Education. Webmath allows your child to submit problems that he or she is struggling with and receive detailed responses that not only provide solutions, but also explanations that will help your child in the future.

Learning Software from ABC Kid Genius

For a downloadable software program that can help your child learn how to read and write, check out ABC Kid Genius. This program is aimed primarily at students who are learning English as a second language, babies, toddlers, children in preschool, kindergartners and students in the early stages of elementary school. It's a free software program that you can download for your child that will help him or her learn letters, reading and basic writing through sounds, videos and pictures. Although the content the lessons varies for each level, a few of the topics that you can expect to see are the alphabet, spelling, reading, counting and numbers.

Funschool's website has free learning games for kids in pre-school to sixth grade. Because of variety, you will likely find an educational game that will appeal to your child's interests. Choose from subjects such as math, language, art, music science and geography. Then, read the games' descriptions to find one that will meet your child's needs.
