Spelling Lists and Vocabulary Words from SpellingCity.com

Once you register as a parent at SpellingCity.com, your child can input his or her spelling word list and play the site's games at no cost. If you choose to pay for premium membership with SpellingCity.com, you and your child will have access to over 42,000 spelling words and a greater number of practice resources. However, because you can enter your child's weekly spelling words for free, membership isn't essential.

TypeAndSpell's Spelling Practice

For free, individualized spelling practice resources, look no further than TypeAndSpell. There are currently over 1,100 active spelling lists on the site that your child can learn. These lists come from a variety of professional sources, like Houghton Mifflin, Open Court Reading, Scholastic and Evan Moore. You can look through the spelling lists from each company specifically by grade level.

TypeAndSpell tests your child using sound, much like your child will encounter from a real spelling exam or at a spelling competition. Upon hearing a word from a spelling list, your child will be required to type it out. Your 4th grader can listen to a spelling word as many times as he or she likes by pressing the 'enter' key. Your child will earn points for each correct answer. Your 6th grader will also be required to practice any words that he or she spelled incorrectly. In addition, TypeAndSpell provides multiple definitions for each word.
