Georgia CRCT Study Guide for Seventh Grade Students
The Criterion-Referenced Competency Test (CRCT) is used to measure the academic abilities of students to ensure that students are meeting performance standards established by the state of Georgia. Keep reading for information about study guides that can help your seventh grader do well on the CRCT.
The Georgia Department of Education's Study Guides
Students in the seventh grade are expected to take the CRCT so educators can gauge their needs and ability levels. Fortunately, you and your child can view an entire Georgia CRCT study guide online at the Georgia Department of Education's website. The guide opens with general information about the CRCT, such as what the exam covers and how it is scored. Next, there's a section with helpful links and testing strategies.
Additionally, there is a chapter devoted to each subject found on the seventh grade CRCT, which includes math, science, social studies, English/language arts and reading. Each chapter has several subsections relating to each category your child will be tested on. For example, the reading chapter includes sections for reading skills and vocabulary acquisition, media literacy and literary comprehension. Each chapter concludes with a practice quiz and answer key.
In addition to the study guide, you can also download PDF practice tests from the Georgia Department of Education using the Online Assessment System (OAS). Your child may have been provided with a personal login name and password by his or her school. If not, you or child can log in by using 'grade7' for both. After logging in, you'll immediately see the practice exams. There are usually four exams to choose from per subject.
Chapel Hill Middle School's CRCT Resources
Check out Chapel Hill Middle School's website for more seventh grade CRCT study tools. There are a number of mock CRCT exams in the necessary subject areas that come equipped with answer keys. While this site is technically not a study guide, your child can use it to review material the same way you would use a study guide. In addition, there's also a useful pamphlet that is full of information about the CRCT, including the purpose of the test and how it's scored.
