Scholastic's Grammar Games

Scholastic offers Maggie's Earth Adventures, which includes a series of interactive grammar games that cover nouns and verbs, prefixes and suffixes, and homophones. Clean Up Your Grammar leads children on a beach excursion where they put nouns and verbs into the proper recycling bin. There are two levels to the game, and it's also available in a Spanish version. In Edit Dan's Copy, kids locate grammatical errors, such as capital letters, final punctuation, run-on sentences, quotation marks and apostrophes.

Games and Activities from ABCya.com

ABCya.com's interactive grammar games are available for grades K-5. Click on your child's grade level and select a grammar game. In Ice Cream Talk, 5th grade kids compete with a monster to build an ice cream sundae using nouns and verbs. In addition, 4th graders can build a beehive by correctly spelling words in Spelling Bees.

Primary kids in kindergarten or 1st grade can play Uppercase and Lowercase Letter Matching, in which they must color in a picture by dragging lowercase letters to their matching uppercase letters. A computer voice says the letter to help reinforce the lesson.

Houghton Mifflin's Education Place Activities

Houghton Mifflin's Education Place offers grammar games and quizzes for grades 2-5. Grammar Blast is intended to be played after instruction as a quick and fun assessment tool. There are cumulative reviews to help reinforce the lessons and a super challenge quiz that covers all units. Players earn points for each question they answer correctly, and each question includes the correct answer for immediate feedback. The units in Grammar Blast cover parts of speech, sentences and capitalization.

In the language arts section designed for grades 6-8, you'll find interactive games such as Power Proofreading, which challenges kids to proofread scripts and memos for a TV station. Each grade level has its own set of files for kids to select.
