Free Math Test's 2nd Grade Tools

At FreeMathTest.com, you'll find both online and printable resources. Your 2nd grader can complete short mini-quizzes on the computer screen, which will help him or her review concepts such as place value and addition. You can choose the number of problems to appear both on the worksheets and quizzes. The 'fundamental math' section of the site includes quizzes in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Free Test from MMLA Mathematics Assessment

The Michigan Mathematics Leadership Association (MMLA) put together a test generator and math assessment for various grade levels. This particular test is geared toward students in the 2nd grade. You can read through the possible test questions and click on ones you do not want to use for your child's assessment. Then, create a PDF document using the questions you want to keep. You can also print out an answer sheet.

In total, there are 116 math problems to choose from. The test is simply a list of questions, so if you want to incorporate other elements, like timing, you will have to do so separately. Although this test was made for students in Michigan, the topics are applicable around the country.

Test and Worksheets from Basic-Mathematics.com

The free math test and worksheets offered here don't come with answer sheets, but considering the basic level of math being reviewed, they shouldn't be necessary. Some of the topics covered are place value, single-digit addition and subtraction, basic measuring and elementary fractions. You can print out the test and the worksheets. You'll also find a basic math calculator on this site, as well as a variety of other math resources.

One type of question featured on this math test is numerical pattern recognition. A series of numbers will appear, and your child will have to write down the number that comes next in the sequence. This is a good preview for later math concepts, where more complex patterns will have to be analyzed.
