5th Grade EOG Test Preparation and Practice Info

The End-of-Grade (EOG) test is administered to 5th graders in North Carolina every spring. Students are tested on their mastery of state curriculum standards in math, reading and science in a multiple-choice format. Keep reading for ways you can provide at-home EOG practice to your child.

The North Carolina 5th grade EOG exam is based on the state's Standard Course of Study. Your child's school curriculum is likely to be based on these standards as well, so he or she will be preparing throughout the school year. Your 5th grader will probably spend time in class reviewing material and completing EOG practice questions. However, online resources can be helpful for additional practice.

The Public Schools of North Carolina's Test Preparation Resources

The Public Schools of North Carolina website provides practice questions and other helpful EOG learning tools. The practice questions are PDF files, so you can download and print them. There are also answers to frequently asked questions, curriculum information, assessment briefs and downloadable copies of the Standard Course of Study.

Help from the Texas Education Agency

Many assessment tests from other states have types of questions that are similar to those on the EOG test because core standards tend to be the same across the country. The Texas Education Agency provides study guides and released exams for the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS), which is based on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills. You can download these science, math and reading study tools both in English and Spanish.

Practice from tlsbooks.com

For your child to practice specific skills, you can print free worksheets from tlsbooks.com. This site offers 61 worksheets on many areas of study that your 5th grader may need help with while preparing for the EOG exam.

If your child is studying science, for example, he or she can complete a solar system crossword puzzle or a space vocabulary worksheet. In math, your 5th grader can solve word problems, multiplication drills and more. For language arts practice, your child might complete the literary terms word search or the multiple-choice context clues worksheet.
