4th Grade Citywide Math Practice Test with Answer Key
Citywide math tests are often administered in large city school districts, like New York City. The purpose of these tests is to assess student and school performance across the city. The following sites offer free practice for 4th graders preparing for citywide exams.
Home Instruction Schools' Practice Tests
Here, you can find extensive New York City test preparation materials, including full-length exams from 2003-2010. All the exams come as printable files with answer keys. Some of the math topics that appear consistently on these tests are simple fractions, 3-digit addition, simple number patterns, multiplication and reading charts.
This site also has interactive, online math practice for 4th graders. For these interactive quizzes, the computer will score answers to the multiple-choice problems.
Online Problems from EduPlace.com
EduPlace.com, from the textbook publisher Houghton Mifflin, has test prep practice aligned to the 4th grade math textbook. Even if your child doesn't use this textbook, he or she is probably learning the same math topics. The math problems are organized according to which chapter they come from. The site lists 12 chapters, and each one comes with online multiple-choice problems.
IXL.com's Math Practice
These online math problems can help your child improve his or her abilities by increasing the difficulty level of problems as you move along. Like many standardized tests, this site has problems from all the 4th grade math textbook units. You will find an organized list of topic headings and subheadings. The subheadings are links to online math problem generators. Some of the topics found here are fractions and mixed numbers, division, multiplication, number patterns and geometry.
All the problems are computer-based, so they must be completed online. If your child answers a problem incorrectly, the right answer will pop up in a box on the screen. You can also choose to view an explanation or simply move on to the next problem. Additionally, as your child improves, the questions will increase in difficulty to meet his or her ability level.
