Cool Math's Fraction Activities

CoolMath.com offers all sorts of lessons and games to help kids develop math skills while having fun. Written lessons on fractions are offered alongside two interactive fraction games. The lessons are written in kid-friendly language, and often include colorful diagrams or pictures.

The goal of the first game, 'Fractone', is to click on any two fractions from a chart that equal the number one. You start out with a whole grid full of fractions, and must eliminate the fractions as fast as possible. The game timer counts up as you play, so at the end you know how many seconds it took you to complete the grid. When your child plays, he or she can write down times and try to get faster with each subsequent round. You can also select a level of difficulty for each round.

The other game, called 'Fraction Splat', has to do with quickly identifying different types of fractions. In three rounds, players must identify mixed numbers as well as fractions that are greater, equal to or less than one.

Games from VisualFractions.com

Here are eight math games designed to help kids learn fractions through visual aids. Your child can practice identifying or adding fractions with these digital games. Some of the games have complex written instructions, so you may need to review them with your child before he or she begins to play.
