The New York Department of Education's Standardized Test Information

The New York State Department of Education provides 3rd grade sample tests and information on the math and ELA standardized tests. You can print these tests and administer them to your child at home for practice. There are released test booklets as well as answer keys available from five different school years, so your child should have enough testing practice.

In addition to the sample exams, you can view scoring information, score conversion charts, teacher evaluation forms and exam schedules. If you'd like your 3rd grader to get ahead, you can have him or her look through materials for the following year's science exam.

Help from EDinformatics

EDinformatics is a solid resource for standardized test practice and information about standardized tests around the nation. Many of these exams are based on similar core standards to the New York standardized tests, and EDinformatics will provide you with links to all of these exams. In addition, EDinformatics also offers a plethora of free practice questions that your child can complete online, which are graded instantly.

Study Guides and Released Tests from the Texas Education Agency

The released tests and study guides from the Texas Education Agency can be quite helpful when your child is preparing for the 3rd grade math and reading tests. Like at the New York Department of Education's site, the released exams here can be viewed online, but are also easy to download in a PDF format.

You'll also find study guides for math and reading. You can download these guides in both English and Spanish. In them, you'll find tips for parents, learning objectives, review activities and sample problems. You will also find test-taking tips throughout, so it may be valuable to point them out to your child.
