Free Resources from Busy Teacher's Cafe

Busy Teacher's Cafe has grammar worksheets that you can print for your child. The worksheets are organized by topic, rather than grade level, so you may want to check with your child's teacher to see what the class is studying.

Lessons are available on parts of speech, compound words, contractions and plurals. Charts with grammar rules are also available for quick reference. Directions and pre-made materials for constructing a grammar booklet can also be printed from the website. In addition, quizzes for some lessons, such as synonyms and antonyms, can be printed.

Grammar Worksheets from Scholastic

Scholastic offers free sample grammar worksheets that you can print and give to your child for extra practice. Answer keys are provided.

One worksheet has children practice identifying and using linking verbs in sentences. Another worksheet, called 'The Case of the Strange Playground Equipment', has kids read an entertaining story and circle common and proper nouns. 'Camp Walla Walla Bing Bang' gives kids practice finding the subject of sentences. Practice materials are also available for antonyms and conjunctions.

RHL School's English Grammar and Usage Activities

RHL School has printable grammar and usage worksheets for reinforcement and review. The materials are suited for grades 4-8. Your child's teacher should be able to tell you what grammar skills to review.

Your child can practice identifying complete sentences from fragments or try an antonym search. Seasonal analogy worksheets are also available for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Halloween. Another assignment that reviews parts of speech has kids underline the adjective in a sentence.
