You may also want your child to meet with the tutor before you hire him or her.

Additionally, decide where the tutor will meet with your child. Many tutoring sessions take place in public libraries. Before hiring a tutor, consider having a conversation about the pricing because some private tutors have very steep rates.

Online Tutors and Tutoring Companies

Although many online tutoring services charge a fee, some websites provide help free of charge. Your child simply posts his or her question and waits for a response from a tutor. The disadvantage, however, is that your child may not get the help he or she needs right away.

You will likely have to pay for the services provided by tutoring companies. The advantage is that your child can receive one-on-one help. Many tutoring companies have specially trained their tutors and are meticulous about whom they hire. This option may be especially helpful for students who are visual learners because your child can see how the tutor solves the problems.
