Science can be fun if you use these projects and activity sheets at home. The topics include life sciences, earth science, chemistry, physics and astronomy. You can print out coloring sheets and worksheets about global warming, earthquakes, fossil fuels and the human eye, among other subjects. In the 'Science With Mom! Blog' section of the site, you'll find instructions for making homemade toothpaste, creating a rainstorm in your kitchen or peeling a raw egg. These and other projects on the site generally only require common household items and easy-to-find ingredients. Science Games at PBS Kids

The Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) offers over 50 science games that often feature famous characters, like Curious George. Hover your mouse over the individual games to find out what it covers. The description appears at the top of the page. For example, the game 'Hungry Hungry Herbivore' addresses wildlife, dinosaurs and plants. You can use this feature to pick a game that reinforces what your child is learning in school. The games cover topics like space, ecosystems, science projects, climate, physics and scientific reasoning.

Videos and Activities from National Geographic Kids

With the wide variety offered here, from pictures and videos to experiments and games, you will likely find some activity that engages your child with science. One experiment, for instance, shows how to create your own lava lamp using ingredients like oil, food coloring and water.

The videos are generally short, so your child won't lose interest. Many are science themed, and topics include animals, the environment and the rain forests. Some feature real-life footage and others explain concepts using cartoons. As a result, you can choose a video that will most engage your child based on his or her interests.
