3rd Grade TAKS Worksheets and Practice Materials

If your 3rd grader needs practice for the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS), the Internet's a fertile place to acquire helpful worksheets and practice exams. Continue to read for information on sites that you and your child might find helpful.

Find available tutors

The 3rd grade TAKS is administered in the spring to most public and private school students in Texas. It's based on the core education standards laid out by the state, referred to as the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). In 3rd grade, students are tested on math and reading.

Study Help from the Texas Education Agency

The Texas Education Agency offers a plethora of practice resources for the 3rd grade TAKS. The downloadable study guides provide information on the TEKS, as well as the objectives and sections of the TAKS. Additionally, there are tips for how to help your child study. In some sections, you will work on with your child. Other sections are designed to be individual practice for your 3rd grader.

The online practice tests are multiple-choice and can be graded instantly. You can also download and print released tests and answer keys from 2009 that you can administer to your child at home.

Practice Tests from Scott Hochberg's Website

Another good source of TAKS tests that your child can practice with is the website of Texas state representative Scott Hochberg. The tests on this site are the same ones available from the Texas Education Agency. However, they are provided in a different format. Have a look at both sites and pick the test format you and your 3rd grader prefer.

The tests are available both in English and in Spanish. Each downloadable test contains an introductory page from the state representative, containing information about the test, including how much correct answers your child will need to pass.

Soft Schools Online Worksheets and Quizzes

SoftSchools.com offers free worksheets and quizzes for the 3rd grade TAKS. The quizzes must be taken online, while the worksheets are printable. Your child can practice everything from spatial reasoning to probability; however, the content is limited to math.
