Free 3rd Grade Math Games and Online Math Practice

Playing math games is a fun way for 3rd graders to practice math skills, like memorizing math facts, comparing fractions, counting money and telling time. Many of the games available on the Internet are colorful, interactive and free. Check out these websites for a wide selection of 3rd grade math games.

Fun Brain's Math Arcade

When your child plays math games at the Math Arcade, he or she can begin by selecting a grade level. This site has 25 leveled games that can help your child practice a variety of 3rd grade skills, including measuring in inches and centimeters, making change, adding and subtracting. Games can be played online or printed out and played on a table. Funbrain.com is hosted by Pearson Education, the company known for publishing books through their offshoot, Penguin Group. The site can be slightly confusing to navigate at first, so you may need to help get things set up before turning the controls over to your child.

Interactive Multiplication Games on Multiplication.com

Many 3rd graders learn multiplication and have to spend a lot of time memorizing the times table. Your child can practice by playing the free games at Multiplication.com. These games all practice multiplication and their different themes appeal to children with varying interests. The games look like cartoons and the characters speak to your child, giving instructions and explaining the rules.

There aren't written instructions, so if your son or daughter needs assistance, you may have to simply play the game for a few minutes to figure it out. One drawback of this website is that games aren't divided by age group or grade level. However, since the site generally deals with the basics of learning the multiplication tables and how to solve multiplication problems, most should be suitable to your 3rd grader.

Fun School's Math Games

Third graders can also play the four math games available at FunSchool.com. These games practice a variety of math skills, including adding fractions and multiplying whole numbers. One of the games is set up with a race car track and is similar to many of the non-educational video games kids play. This website also has games for other school subjects, such as vocabulary and Spanish.
